Female pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in New Haven


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A pedestrian was killed Friday night in New Haven after police say they were hit by a vehicle.

Around 10:00 p.m., police arrived in the area of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Judson Avenue, where they located a female pedestrian lying in the southbound lane.

Suffering from injuries, medical aid was conducted and the pedestrian was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police say that after hitting the pedestrian, the driver remained at the scene and provided medical attention to the victim.

In a statement, the driver said that he was travelling in the southbound lane when the pedestrian appeared in front of his vehicle.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been shared pending next of kin notification.
