The Austin football team wasn’t able to get anything going on either side of the ball as it lost to Albert Lea 65-0 in its home opener in Art Hass Stadium Friday night.
The Tigers (2-0 overall) used five first half scoring plays of over 24 yards each to take a 39-0 lead into the break, while the Packer offense struggled to move the ball.
“It stings. It’s a rivalry game,” Austin head coach Ed Schmitt said. “The message was for us to sit as coaches and watch the first two games and find eleven guys that want to do what we’re asking them to do; to be coached and to do the things that they can control and what we’re asking them to do.”
Sophomore Matthew Felten ran for 27 yards for the Packers (0-2 overall).
