Yesterday, Xiaomi announced the 17 Max, and today there’s already a full teardown / disassembly video on YouTube showing all of its insides, courtesy of the Chinese channel WekiHome. While the video is in Chinese, we find YouTube’s English language captions very good, so make sure you turn them on if you don’t speak Chinese.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is a rather surprising arrival, since it’s the first Max in the company’s flagship line. The Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max all came out in China in September, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December. Thus, we’re five months away from the last introduction of a Xiaomi 17 family member.
The Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC just like the rest of the family, and it boasts a 6.9-inch 1200×2608 LTPO AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500-nit peak brightness, 12/16GB of RAM, 256/512GB of storage, a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, a 32MP selfie camera, and an 8,000 mAh battery with support for 100W wired, 50W wireless, 22.5W reverse wired, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging. It runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 on top.
