First Paramount Goes Dark event coming up March 23 with Chicago’s greatest hits

Austin Area Arts has announced the first event of the Paramount Goes Dark mini-performance series at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, in Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School featuring Transit Authority.
Opening the show will be Austin High School Jazz One under the direction of Christoph Dundas. Additional high school band members will join Jazz One and Transit Authority on the concert’s final number “25 or 6 to 4.”
Since 2004, Transit Authority has become nationally known as the premiere Chicago tribute band. Based in St. Paul, this eight-member group creates an amazing talented ensemble who meticulously captures the nuances of the original Chicago recordings. Performing mega hits like “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” “25 or 6 to 4,” “Hard Habit to Break,” “Make Me Smile,” “Beginnings,” and many more.
This series is presented to coincide with the closure of the Historic Paramount Theatre while it undergoes renovation and expansion.
Other upcoming Paramount Goes Dark events include:
• Commotion: A Tribute to the Music of Creedence Clearwater Revival Frank W. Bridges Theatre – Riverland Community College, 7:30 p.m. on April 12.
• Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway at Frank W. Bridges Theatre — Riverland Community College, 7:30 p.m. on May 8.
General admission seating tickets are on sale now for all events. A discounted bundle including all three events is available for only $79. A student ticket price of $10 is also available for all three events.
