Arctic chill holds sway this week before a warming

Cold will continue to grip the area throughout the week, with the worst of it expected tonight into Tuesday.
Alongside a cold weather advisory currently in effect until 9 p.m. tonight, the National Weather Service will place our area into an extreme cold warning starting at 9 p.m. and last through to 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Beneath clear skies, temperatures are expected to dip to -23 with wind chill values dipping to -39 tonight. The cold will still largely be below zero through Tuesday with a windchill value as low as -38.
Temperatures will hover in the single digits to below zero the rest of the week until temperatures begin to rise on Friday with a high of 12, followed by a high of 24 on Saturday.
