3 Waterbury teens facing grand theft auto charges
WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Three teenagers are facing larceny of motor vehicle charges.
On Thursday, shortly after 4:30 p.m., the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force, ATTF, patrolled around Sumac Street and Birch Place.
Officers said they found a reportedly stolen 2018 Jaguar F-Pace from Nassau County, New York, parked in the area of Birch Place.
Police said they saw three individuals getting out of the reportedly stolen vehicle and walking along Long Hill Road. Upon further investigation, officers identified the suspects as three juvenile males.
Officers said the operator of the stolen car was a 15-year-old male, who is facing charges of first-offense larceny of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
According to police, one of the passengers is being charged with first-offense larceny. The second passenger, who was previously arrested by the ATTF in July, is being charged with second-offense larceny of a motor vehicle. Both passengers are 16-year-old males.
The juvenile suspects are all from Waterbury and were taken into police custody.
