New pharmacy opens in Fair Haven neighborhood

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — People in New Haven’s Fair Haven neighborhood have a new way to save money on prescription drugs.

City leaders held a ribbon cutting Tuesday for Grand Pharmacy, run by the Fair Haven Community Health Center.

The goal is to provide high-quality health care and medication to those uninsured or underinsured. If the prescription is written by community health center staff, the savings through a federal program can be significant.

“This allows us to buy drugs at government prices,” Dr. Suzanne Lagarde, CEO of Fair Haven Community Health Center, said. “Major major savings. Often in the 100s of dollars. We can and do pass these savings on to our patients.”

The staff is bilingual, and there is a translation hotline for languages other than Spanish.
The pharmacy is open to the public and offers same-day prescription medication delivery.
