Man sentenced for assaulting fellow inmate at FCI Danbury in 2023

DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A prisoner at the Federal Correctional Institute was sentenced Wednesday after assaulting a fellow inmate, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
Statements and documents presented in court said that 34-year-old Jonathan Cruz-Carmona assaulted a fellow inmate with a weapon crafted from a broken pencil and two razor blades on Dec. 18, 2023.
The other inmate suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his chin and neck.
Cruz-Carmona pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon on June 3, 2024.
Cruz-Carmona was serving a 200-month federal sentence for murder with a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime from the Western District of New York.
A federal judge sentenced Cruz-Carmona to 12 months and one day of imprisonment.
The sentence will run consecutively to Cruz-Carmona’s previous sentence.
