One evaluated after kitchen fire breaks out in West Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — One person was treated for smoke exposure after a kitchen fire broke out early this morning at an apartment in West Haven.
According to the West Haven Fire Department, a smoke detector immediately alerted occupants to evacuate the building at 79 Claudia Drive after a fire started in the kitchen area.
At the scene, due to the apartment’s occupancy and time of day, a second alarm was called. Firefighters quickly controlled the flames in the four-story building, and only one occupant was evaluated for smoke exposure.
