NEW YORK (WPIX) — Coffee has been recalled from Dollar General stores nationwide after reports of potential glass fragments in the grounds, according to an announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Dollar General has issued a voluntary recall of its Clover Valley Instant Coffee due to the potential presence of glass, the announcement said. The recall includes three lots of its eight-ounce products.

The products were distributed and sold in Dollar General stores nationwide between July 9 and July 21.

The recall comes after a customer reported the issue to Dollar General employees; however, no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the coffee. According to the recall notice, ingested glass could cause “damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine.”

Below is a list of lot codes for the recalled products.

  • Lot: L-5163 / Best By 12/13/2026
  • Lot: L-5164 / Best by 12/13/2026
  • Lot: L-5165 / Best by 12/14/2026

The coffee was sold in every state except Alaska and Hawaii, Dollar General warned.

Health experts warn anyone who may have purchased the Clover Valley Instant Coffee to throw it away or contact Dollar General via email at customercare@dollargeneral.com or by phone at 1-888-309-9030 to request a full refund.

How the glass contamination occurred is under investigation.
