NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) issued a forest fire danger rating on Thursday of “high” across the state.
State officials remind residents to obey local laws regarding open fires, carefully dispose of hot charcoal and completely extinguish smoking materials.
Even if you have a permit to burn, you cannot do it on days when the forest fire danger rating is high, very high, or extreme, and you are burning within 100 feet of a grassland or woodland.
If you see a brush fire, call 9-1-1 immediately.
