Man killed in New Haven hit-and-run


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian early this morning.

New Haven’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the area of 1455 State St. at 2:18 a.m. There, they found Luis Timbila in the roadway suffering from injuries related to being hit by a vehicle.

Despite medical aid from emergency officials, Timbila was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A black Honda Civic with front end damage was described by witnesses as the vehicle involved. The operator fled north on State St. toward the Town of Hamden with a red Honda Civic following behind.

New Haven investigators are now searching for the operator and anyone with information is asked to contact officials at 203-946-6304 or leave an anonymous tip at 866-888-8477.
