Motorcycle crash kills one and injuries another in New Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Two motorcyclists collided late Friday night in New Haven, killing one and injuring the other.
Both state and New Haven police officers responded to the intersection of Route 34 West and South Orange St. just after 11:00 p.m. for a collision involving two motorcycles.
Police investigation determined that a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle and a three-wheeled 2011 Spyder Can-Am, were traveling along Rt. 34 to towards the intersection when the Can-Am struck the Kawasaki on its rear side.
The impact knocked both operators off their motorcycles, and they proceeded to slide across the pavement and hit a “raised traffic island” in the roadway.
Both operators were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where police say 49-year-old Waterbury resident Noel Gonzalez succumbed to his injuries.
The other operator had non-life-threatening injuries.
State police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad are investigating the crash and ask anyone with information to contact them at 203-696-2500.
