Online threat to Meriden middle school prompts police presence
MERIDEN, Conn (WTNH) — An increased police presence will be at the Thomas Edison Middle School in Meriden for the entire week after an online threat was made against students on the social media app “Snapchat.”
The Meriden Police Department said early this morning that a concerning post “making threats against ‘Edison’ students” circulated across social media. Meriden officials, with the help of school personnel, are actively investigating this threat and say “out of an abundance of caution,” an increased police presence will be at the school for the entire week.
The investigation is still in the early stages, and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Shedlock at 203-630-6285 or email mshedlock@meridenct.gov.
