MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Portland police responded to the report of someone falling off the Arrigoni Bridge into the Connecticut River Monday morning.
The Arrigoni Bridge’s eastbound lanes were closed for maintenance at the time, police said. Maintenance workers and inspectors were not involved, according to police.
The City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 confirmed Marine 1 was on the Connecticut River and the Dive Team had been activated.
The man has not yet been identified.
Middletown police are assisting Portland police in the investigation.
