New Haven police charge two men for teen shooting in 2023
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police charged two suspects in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in November last year.
The suspects were identified as Tyrick Warren, 30, of New Haven and Branden Harper, 29, of Hamden.
At 4:13 PM, on Nov. 12, 2023, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the backyard of an address on Hazel Street near Shelton Avenue. They found an 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his arm. The victim was then transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment and survived his injuries.
Warren and Harper face the following charges:
- First-degree assault.
- First-degree conspiracy to commit assault.
- Criminal possession of a firearm.
- Carrying a pistol without a permit.
- First-degree reckless endangerment.
- First-degree conspiracy to commit reckless endangerment.
Both Warren and Harper have bonds set at $300,000.
Warren has been in custody since November 15, 2023, on unrelated charges.
Harper, however, was apprehended on March 27, 2024, after attempting to flee a traffic stop in New Haven.
In addition to the arrest warrant related to the shooting, he faces additional charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, failure to obey officers signal, reckless driving, and interfering with police.
