Observant driver leads to owl rescue in Montville

MONTVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) – An owl is now in the care of a rehab center after being found injured on the side of the road Wednesday morning, according to Montville police.
Police said a concerned driver first saw the owl on the side of the road near Route 163 and Chesterfield Road before noticing it wasn’t flying away and seemed injured.
The driver reached out to the police department and animal control responded, determining the owl was likely struck by a vehicle, resulting in its injuries.
The owl was transported to Freedom First Wildlife Rehab in Waterford, where it will be evaluated and helped back to health. Police said the owl will be released back in the area it was found if it’s able to make a full recovery.
