Man charged for opening fire at a house in West Haven


WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man has been arrested on various weapons charges after police say he opened fire on a house’s exterior in West Haven.

This morning after 1:00, officers from the West Haven Police Department responded to a house on Third Ave. after a resident in the area reported gunfire.

Police say the caller witnessed a male firing a handgun at a house and then retreating into that same residence.

Once officials arrived at the scene, the Detective Division surrounded the residence and ordered all occupants to exit.

Officials say no victims were found, but multiple shell casings were on the ground, and the house displayed multiple bullet holes.

Police have identified the shooter as 31-year-old Robert McCray. He has been charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, violating a protective order, and other related charges.
