The Austin Stars 12UAA baseball team won the 44-team MBT state championship this past weekend, making it the first time an Austin Stars team has brought home the AA MBT state title in 21 years.
Austin beat Chaska, Prior Lake and St. Paul before beating Stillwater 5-1 in the championship game.
“These boys made the Austin Stars organization, our parents, our coaches and the town of Austin proud this weekend. They represented themselves and our community with class through their competitive spirit. As a coach, I am honored to have the opportunity to coach these boys,” said head coach Jason Kenyon. “They are a group of humble, gritty, coachable players that exemplify what it means to face adversity and come together as a team to accomplish their goals.”
Austin (22-1 overall) will be competing for their MBL league Championship this week and following that up with a title run at the MSF State tournament in Sauk Rapids.
